Did you know? More than 60% of the environmental impact of a printed product is determined by the materials used. So, choosing the right material really makes a difference. And here’s the good part: by recycling materials in a closed-loop system, your printed product gets a second life and CO₂ emissions are significantly reduced. Depending on the production setup, materials used, and avoiding raw material extraction, CO₂ reductions can range from 20% to as much as 90%! That’s not only good for the planet, but for all of us.

How do we measure CO₂e?

CO₂ calculations are complex—there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. Comparisons are only meaningful if everyone plays by the same rules. That’s why we’re transparent about our method and show you exactly how we work.

In the print world, CO₂e emissions come from four main areas:

• Materials: The raw materials used

• Production: The process of printing the product

• Transport: The transport of materials and products

• Waste processing: How the product is treated at the end of its life

Our goal is to give you an indication of the CO₂e impact of the products you choose, so you can make smart, sustainable decisions. CO₂e calculations are indeed a challenge—different industries follow different rules, and there are countless factors to consider.

With our extensive range (think paper, banners, promotional items, and textiles), this is no small task. But we love a challenge! We’ve taken the first step in providing our customers with CO₂e estimates for many of our products. Step by step, we’re rolling out CO₂e calculations across our full range and improving the accuracy of our estimates. No exaggerated promises, just steady progress!

How do we calculate the CO₂ impact?

Many of the numbers used in the industry and in certified CO₂ tools are based on averages—especially regarding energy use. That’s why they are often estimates rather than exact figures. But we do our best! We use the Carbon Footprint Guide from the European Print Association (based on the GHG Protocol) and gather CO₂ data from our material suppliers, usually sourced from CEPI’s trusted “10 Toes.”

In our app, you can view the CO₂ impact of your order! We’re gradually revealing more CO₂ insights step by step.
